Update

Well, it's been a hectic couple of weeks! JV faced a set back last week in a three game loss to Gulf Coast. But, they did a great job of bouncing back Thursday night against NPHS! And then, we followed that up with a win against Desoto on Monday. I know the girls are excited to participate in all the Homecoming activities - I'm glad we don't have games so they can really enjoy it!

Weekend update.

Well, this Saturday, the JV team had a great day!! We beat Lakewood Ranch, Charlotte, and Braden River on our way to the championship game against Riverview. The Braden River game turned out to be really exciting. Both teams played really well - Braden River must be really working hard up there! We took home the 'gold' and were able to take cheesy pics holding up a #1!! Monday we beat SCS's varsity team. It was a good win for us since we are much younger than they are. They really got after it on defense and swung hard. Good job on being 12-0 girls!

Schedule for Saturday

I recieved our schedule for the tournament at SHS this Saturday. Parents will need to drop their daughters at 7am at SHS. I'm working on uploading the schedule - should be up soon!

Riverview

We had a great first week overall! JV is now 3-0. We've had some close games, but I try to keep emphasizing that I want us to learn how to play volleyball the 'right' way. I'd rather lose a close game trying to play Venice Volleyball than mess around but get the win. We need to continue to build game after game, day after day, week after week. I've had a great week with this group of girls! See you Tuesday!

Win number 2!

Tonight we made the trip up to Braden River. The girls were ready to
play in their long sleeved jerseys! We won our match in 2 with a great
performances from Bianca and Hannah. We also had contributions from
all of the freshmen. Great job on being 2-0!

Tonight!!!

First game tonight!!! YAYAYAYAYAY!!

First week down!

Well, the first week of school is done. Everyone made it through the week despite lots of challenges - lots of rain, seven periods a day, and moving into the south gym. We had some good practices and I think we are ready for our first game Monday! Keep your eyes open for a time change on the Wednesday match against Southeast. Short sleeved jerseys on Monday. Bus leaves at 4:15!!!

First Practice

Well, today was our first practice for the 2009 JV team! We handed out jerseys, exchanged numbers, talked about rules...all the typical stuff you do on the first day with a new group of girls. Several of these girls I had the oppotunity to coach last year and really enjoyed it. I am looking forward to being with them again and also adding some new faces to the group! Today went great when we played. I was really impressed with their drive to play hard, especially when we played 6 on 6. They made some mistakes, but never stopped trying. This will definitely help us improve throughout the season. Off to varsity practice!

Practice for the freshmen and JV team is wed and Fri from 10am -12. Thurs will be from 3:30 - 6 with a mandatory parent and players meeting @ 6PM in the North Gym.
