Sept 22, already??

I can't believe we've almost reached the end of September! Here's a couple fun updates:

- We have a guest coach, Barry Rossheim, visit practice last Friday.  I think the girls loved hearing a different opinion and way of saying things! It's great to have those moments when they realize I'm not totally crazy :)

- Sam Budney has really improved on her jump floater.  She has done a great job serving recently.  And, of course, we all love her flying right hand that helps her jump, haha.

- Liz had a terrible piggy-back ride accident this weekend.  I know she'll bounce back quick though! For details and a very entertaining play-by-play, just ask Liz, who is always more than happy to tell a story, lol.

- All the girls have been thoroughly enjoying their surprise gifts from their big sisters! Can't wait to find out who they all are!

- Big game this Thursday against Riverview at home at 7.  Freshmen play at 6.  Come out and watch!

That's it for now...ttyl!

Week 1

Week one has been an interesting one! We have been preparing for almost three weeks now for our first game against Braden River.  We probably could have prepared a little better because we lost a close one, 23-25, 24-26.  There were moments when we played very well - and definitely some moments where we didn't.  This is all typical of a new and young team though.

We came out the following night against Cardinal Mooney at about the same level of intensity.  BUT we had a big turn around with the help of some great defensive hustle by Audrey, Cassie, and Karlee.  We pulled it together and were able to win the next two games!! Yay!

Next week we take on Riverdale at 6 on Tuesday and our first away game will be on Thursday against Sarasota Christian School.

New Team!

It's that time of year again! We announced the new JV team just a couple days ago and practices are already underway.  I have some specific goals for what I want the girls to practice on - ball control and serving.  These are two of the most important parts of volleyball.  If we can have better ball control than any other team, we should be putting ourselves in a position to beat any other team.

This year there are 7 freshmen on the JV team.  That's the most freshmen on the team since I've been coaching it.  I believe all of these kids played middle school volleyball and club volleyball, giving them alot of extra playing time to develop.  I'm looking forward to a hopefully great season with them!
