I can't believe we've almost reached the end of September! Here's a couple fun updates: - We have a guest coach, Barry Rossheim, visit practice last Friday.  I think the girls loved hearing a different opinion and way of saying things! It's great to have those moments when they realize I'm not totally crazy :) - Sam Budney has really improved on her jump floater.  She has done a great job

Week one has been an interesting one! We have been preparing for almost three weeks now for our first game against Braden River.  We probably could have prepared a little better because we lost a close one, 23-25, 24-26.  There were moments when we played very well - and definitely some moments where we didn't.  This is all typical of a new and young team though.  We came out the following night

It's that time of year again! We announced the new JV team just a couple days ago and practices are already underway.  I have some specific goals for what I want the girls to practice on - ball control and serving.  These are two of the most important parts of volleyball.  If we can have better ball control than any other team, we should be putting ourselves in a position to beat any other team.

Well, it's been a hectic couple of weeks! JV faced a set back last week in a three game loss to Gulf Coast. But, they did a great job of bouncing back Thursday night against NPHS! And then, we followed that up with a win against Desoto on Monday. I know the girls are excited to participate in all the Homecoming activities - I'm glad we don't have games so they can really enjoy it!Coach Peters

Well, this Saturday, the JV team had a great day!! We beat Lakewood Ranch, Charlotte, and Braden River on our way to the championship game against Riverview. The Braden River game turned out to be really exciting. Both teams played really well - Braden River must be really working hard up there! We took home the 'gold' and were able to take cheesy pics holding up a #1!! Monday we beat SCS's

We had a great first week overall! JV is now 3-0. We've had some close games, but I try to keep emphasizing that I want us to learn how to play volleyball the 'right' way. I'd rather lose a close game trying to play Venice Volleyball than mess around but get the win. We need to continue to build game after game, day after day, week after week. I've had a great week with this group of girls!

Tonight we made the trip up to Braden River. The girls were ready to play in their long sleeved jerseys! We won our match in 2 with a great performances from Bianca and Hannah. We also had contributions from all of the freshmen. Great job on being 2-0!Sent from my iPhone

Well, the first week of school is done. Everyone made it through the week despite lots of challenges - lots of rain, seven periods a day, and moving into the south gym. We had some good practices and I think we are ready for our first game Monday! Keep your eyes open for a time change on the Wednesday match against Southeast. Short sleeved jerseys on Monday.
